The Baltimore Academy

The Baltimore Academy has established itself as a premier provider of private day special education services for students in grades 6 through 12. The Academy serves students from the local school systems in and around Baltimore City, including Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Prince George’s counties. The Academy has established a reputation for working successfully with the most challenging students through its application of state of the art teaching and counseling strategies by a highly skilled and dedicated staff.

The 12-month school program serves male and female adolescents ages 12 through 20 who are exhibiting serious emotional, behavioral and learning disorders and who are not yet able to function in less restrictive school settings.

The school’s location on the grounds of Mountain Manor Treatment Center on Frederick Avenue allows all Academy students easy access to the wide array of clinical programs located on the campus including outpatient, intensive outpatient and after school day treatment for substance abuse disorders. The certified mental health clinic on grounds provides psychiatric, psychological and other services that supplement those clinical counseling services already offered in the Academy by the school social worker. The Academy social worker provides individual, group and family therapy as indicated by each student’s Individual Educational Plan.

The Baltimore Academy also offers the Step-Up Program, which provides life-skills and vocational instruction through a partnership with the Community College of Baltimore County. This program prepares the students for a wide range of careers and the necessary life skills to excel. The Academy also provides an e-learning component through Compass Learning, which promotes innovative learning experiences to our students by providing supplemental technological support and a credit recovery program. With these educational tools, students can add diversity and value to their overall education experience and, most importantly, develop the skills necessary to be successful post-graduation.
